Our Sailing Journey
SVBogumila our sailing family journey is about exploring the world together, one sail at a time. Living aboard our sailboat, we travel slowly from destination to destination, discovering family-friendly places, diverse cultures, and unforgettable experiences along the way. So far, we have sailed over 10,000 nautical miles, following the rhythm of the wind and sea. Our journey has taken us along the East Coast of the United States and through the turquoise waters of the Bahamas, where each anchorage brings new lessons, friendships, and stories worth sharing. This journey combines adventure with education, turning everyday life at sea into a living classroom for our daughter. Through hands-on experiences, nature, and cultural discovery, travel remains the most powerful way to learn. By sharing authentic stories, practical travel tips, and captivating photos, SVBogumila aims to inspire families to embrace adventure, strengthen their bonds, and create meaningful memories—both on the water and beyond.

We didn’t set out to just visit places—we set out to experience them slowly, by sea, one anchorage at a time. SV Bogumila became our way of moving through the world differently. Not faster, but deeper. It didn't all just happen at once but over past three years we discovered those locations. In Bahamas it started with
the crossing to Bimini—that first glimpse of turquoise after days of blue. A quiet confirmation that we had chosen the right path. From there, the rhythm began.
In the Berry Islands, we learned how to slow down. Empty anchorages, glassy water, and nights where the only sound was the wind. It was no longer about arriving—it was about being there.
Nassau reminded us that even in a life at sea, we still return to the practical—fuel, food, repairs. A pause between wild places. Necessary, but never the goal.
Then came the Exuma—where everything changed. Water so clear it felt unreal, anchorages that looked like they belonged to another world. This is where sailing stopped feeling like travel and started feeling like freedom.
We found simplicity in the Abaco Islands—protected waters, small harbors, and the quiet joy of short sails and easy days.
In Eleuthera, we learned respect. Two oceans meeting, conditions changing, and the reminder that the sea always sets the terms.
Further south, islands like Cat Island and Long Island brought us closer to something raw and untouched—places where time slows, and the world feels wide again. We spend three years in Bahamas until we decided to go farther south our journey shifted. We felt ready .
In Luperón, we found shelter—not beauty in the traditional sense, but something just as important: safety, community, and time to pause.
Puerto Plata brought movement back—wind, waves, and the energy of a different coastline. A reminder that every place carries its own rhythm.
And finally, Samaná gave us space again. Wide anchorages, green hills, and the feeling of arriving somewhere that invites you to stay a little longer. At Puerto Bahía Marina, we paused—not because we had to, but because we wanted to.We will continue explore new locations and share with you the glimpse of our world.Hope you all enjoy the journey and maybe we push you to decide to take on your own plans.Maybe we can inspire you to live life differently .
